About the Role
Are you an experienced teacher with expertise in Early Years SEND and a passion for building the confidence, knowledge and skills of practitioners and families to support every child to achieve their full potential? Havering SEND and Alternative Provision Service is a multidisciplinary team comprising Educational Psychologists, Advisory Teachers, Early Years Specialists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists and other specialist professionals. Together, we work collaboratively to support children and young people with SEND, their families, and the educational settings they attend.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced EYFS Advisory Teacher to join our growing team. This exciting role forms part of the Department for Education's Experts at Hand offer, which aims to strengthen inclusive practice by increasing access to specialist expertise and support within mainstream settings.

As an EYFS Advisory Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in improving outcomes for young children with emerging and identified SEND. Through training, consultation, coaching and specialist advice, you will build the confidence and capacity of practitioners and families, helping to ensure that children receive the right support at the earliest opportunity.

The EYFS Advisory Teacher will work collaboratively with early years providers, schools, families and professionals to promote inclusive practice and high-quality SEND provision across the borough. As part of the DfE Experts at Hand programme, you will share specialist expertise through training, modelling and consultation, empowering practitioners to meet the diverse needs of children within their own settings. You will also work directly with families, providing guidance and practical strategies to support children's development and participation in everyday learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality training, workshops and professional development opportunities for early years settings, schools and childcare providers.
- Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to practitioners supporting children with emerging or identified SEND.
- Work directly with families, offering advice, practical strategies and support to help them understand and meet their child's developmental needs.
- Model effective interventions, strategies and inclusive approaches within educational settings.
- Support settings to develop and embed person-centred and graduated approaches to SEND support.
- Work collaboratively with Educational Psychologists, Therapists, Advisory Teachers and other professionals to provide coordinated support for children and families.
- Develop resources, guidance and training materials that promote inclusive practice and build sustainable SEND provision.
- Support settings to strengthen their understanding of child development, communication, interaction, learning and participation.
- Contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of Havering's Early Years SEND and inclusion offer.

Experience
Substantial experience working within the Early Years Foundation Stage with a strong understanding of child development, SEND and inclusive practice in the early years. Experience of delivering training, coaching or mentoring to practitioners is essential.

You are a qualified teacher who can build positive and effective relationships with families, settings and professional colleagues. You have excellent communication, presentation and consultation skills, are committed to inclusion and improving outcomes for young children with SEND, and can work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
