About the Role
Havering Works is an internal, grant-funded team providing employment support to residents facing barriers to securing and maintaining work. This fixed-term role (initially 2 years with possible short extension) focuses on developing employer relationships to facilitate employment opportunities for individuals participating in the Connect to Work (CtW) programme and similar initiatives.
The postholder will provide employers with information about the programme’s intentions, advice and guidance on Individual Placement Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF), and support available to local residents and employers. This includes helping close knowledge gaps around reasonable adjustments, in-work support, and assisting employers in reviewing risk assessment policies and legal obligations.
Key responsibilities include marketing and promoting the CtW programme to employers and stakeholders across Havering, advocating flexible and inclusive recruitment practices, supporting employers with recruitment, job carving, onboarding participants, and providing ongoing advice and in-work support.
The role involves close collaboration with employers, Havering Works Employment Specialists, and stakeholders such as DWP and JCP staff to ensure a coordinated response for residents returning to work.
The postholder will lead borough-wide networking and stakeholder engagement to maintain and develop lasting relationships and promote cohesive integration among services and partners. Additionally, they will promote the employment and skills brokerage service across internal council departments and external organisations including voluntary and community sectors, colleges, and training providers.
Experience
- Skilled at building relationships with employers, clinical teams, JCP, and other partners
- Proven experience delivering presentations to forums, partners, and networks both face to face and online
- Experience working in complex systems such as health, employment, and social care
