About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is home to Europe’s largest dental school, a £160 million Cancer Centre, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and one of the largest critical care units in the UK. It is part of King’s Health Partners and works closely with King’s College London to deliver world-leading clinical research and patient care.

The GMS Programme Manager will provide overall management of large-scale and complex projects across the Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) core and enabling functions. This role involves developing integrated, large-scale change programmes with internal and external partners to achieve GMS strategic aims. The post holder will lead a team responsible for managing projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones, KPIs, and benefits.

Key responsibilities include developing and overseeing a robust programme management framework, maintaining oversight of workstreams, deploying creative solutions, and ensuring appropriate evaluation and metrics are in place to monitor impact and milestone achievement. The role requires matrix management, leadership, and collaboration with clinicians, health professionals, and patient representatives to realise anticipated benefits. The post holder will also lead the establishment of effective partnerships to support regional service improvement plans and innovative healthcare delivery models.

The South East GMS, hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’, is a partnership covering Kent, South London, Surrey, and Sussex, serving approximately 9 million patients. It delivers core functions including cancer and rare disease clinical services, population health, and genomics laboratory functions, alongside enabling functions such as people and workforce, research and innovation, data and digital, and transformation and service improvement.

The Trust is committed to addressing health inequalities by building a diverse team and ensuring strong patient representation across projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a pioneering genomic medicine service within a leading NHS organisation.
