An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Receipt and Distribution Operative within the Procurement service. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative individual with excellent communication skills who can build relationships across a multi-professional team and adapt to an evolving service to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality patient care.

The role involves receiving, delivering, unpacking, and replenishing stock and supplies for both clinical and non-clinical areas. You will ensure stock rotation, verify deliveries against orders, investigate discrepancies, and arrange returns or credits as necessary. You will work as part of a team to store supplies securely, identify items requiring specialist storage, and transport supplies safely across the Trust. You will also be responsible for the security of goods in transit and the safe return of undelivered or returned supplies.

The post holder will follow Trust policies and procedures, participate in service development, and work in partnership with wards and departments to coordinate delivery times, especially for large or heavy items. Health and safety and manual handling rules must be adhered to at all times.

Experience
- Receiving deliveries and checking goods against delivery notes
- Sorting, storing, and distributing stock correctly
- Using handheld scanners, barcode systems, and Datascope system

Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in stores, warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment
- Experience within the NHS or healthcare sector
- Experience handling medical supplies or controlled items

Knowledge
- Knowledge of goods receiving and distribution procedures
- Understanding of quality standards and reporting discrepancies, damages, or shortages
- Knowledge of customer service principles

Desirable Knowledge
- Understanding of barcode scanning and electronic stock tracking systems
- Knowledge of warehouse or logistics operations
- Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Skills
- Ability to receive, check, and distribute goods accurately
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling stock and records
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Ability to undertake manual handling activities safely

Desirable Skills
- Pump truck or pallet truck operation skills
- Experience in warehouse, logistics, stores, or healthcare supplies environment
- Experience handling sensitive, specialist, or medical supplies
