About the Role
If you are looking for a fresh and stimulating opportunity with an inclusive and supportive team, then look no further. Camden Council is seeking a Head of Virtual School, Participation & Progression to lead and integrate the Virtual School with the borough-wide Participation & Progression Service, creating a joined-up offer that supports children and young people from early years through to post-16 and beyond.

In this role, you will lead motivated teams covering educational advocacy, careers advice, youth work, and enrichment opportunities. You will drive strategic improvements in outcomes for looked-after children, care leavers, and other vulnerable groups within Camden and beyond.

You will strengthen partnerships with schools, social care, Camden Learning, post-16 providers, voluntary sector organisations, and out-of-borough schools where children are placed. You will shape a sustainable, future-focused model delivering consistently high-quality Personal Education Plans, improving attendance, raising aspirations, and supporting progression into education, employment, and training.

This position offers a professional challenge, a supportive culture, and strategic scope to make a visible difference to children’s lives. Whether you are an experienced Virtual School Head or a Deputy ready to take the next step, this role provides the opportunity to make your mark.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires an Enhanced DBS check. Camden also offers the DBS update service.

Camden is a borough with ambition for its residents, communities, and especially children and young people. Our children’s services are rated Outstanding by Ofsted, and our Virtual School has a strong reputation for quality, collaboration, and improving outcomes.
