The Health Data Transportation Clerk will work as part of the health records team, responsible for the collection and delivery of paper health records and document wallets across the Trust. The role includes carrying out first line quality checks to ensure documentation has the correct patient label or barcode attached. The post holder may be required to work across multiple sites within the Trust.

Key duties include maintaining a professional attitude, collecting and delivering day forward documents daily, ensuring document integrity, working flexibly within a fast-paced team environment, adhering to health and safety policies when handling documents, and keeping transportation equipment in good working order. The role also involves participating in mandatory training and the Trust appraisal scheme.

The post holder will use quality customer service skills aligned with the Trust’s values and behaviours, responding courteously to all requests and ensuring timely collections and deliveries. The role requires adherence to Trust policies including confidentiality, information governance, equal opportunities, health and safety, infection control, risk management, safeguarding, sustainability, and smoking policies.

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience working in an NHS environment is essential
- Experience in a busy working environment is essential
- Previous experience within a health records setting is desirable
- Experience of handling and moving health records is desirable

- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 and importance of confidentiality (desirable)
- Takes responsibility for own actions and promotes good team working
- Shares knowledge, information, and good practice appropriately
- Physically fit and able to lift and move boxes in line with Manual Handling Policies
- Able to pull/push records trolleys and walk long distances, standing for extended periods
- Enthusiastic with a good sense of humour
- Treats others with courtesy and respect at all times (desirable)
- Willingness to fully participate in departmental duties and provide cover (desirable)

Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (essential)
- NVQ in customer service (desirable)
