About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, energetic, and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our education outreach team, putting children and young people at the heart of everything we do. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with their learning—whether in school, at the pupils' residential setting (offsite), or in other off-site locations. You will deliver tailored sessions based on individual learning plans, including remote support using technology when needed. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will promote positive behaviour, support learning objectives, and monitor student progress. You will be a key part of the team around each young person, ensuring consistent communication and support.

About Us
Our specialist multi-disciplinary team of leaders, carers, therapists, and educationalists work seamlessly together to teach and support pupils who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, including trauma, toxic stress, and associated mental wellbeing difficulties, aiming to break the cycle of adversity. Children and young people may also come to us with challenges such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or moderate and specific learning difficulties. High Peak School, part of Kedleston Group, specialises in providing education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

Experience
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational support role
- Experience working with students with SEMH and/or ASC needs

- Strong understanding of child development, autism strategies, and trauma-informed approaches
- Strong understanding of child development and the primary/secondary curriculum
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage behaviour effectively and support diverse learning needs
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A proactive and positive approach to supporting student learning
