About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking ambitious, outstanding candidates to join our teaching staff as an Hourly Paid Lecturer in Hair and Beauty. We are a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.
UCG is one of the top 20 largest college groups in the UK with an annual turnover exceeding £50 million. We offer education and training across a wide range of vocational areas and levels, attracting a diverse student body from London and beyond.
As part of our Hair and Beauty department, you will support teaching staff and students by preparing for practical lessons and managing financial and stock control systems including cashing up and daily takings. You will bring a background in hairdressing or beauty with at least a Level 2 qualification in either subject, alongside excellent communication and IT skills.
We are expanding our department and building a brand-new state-of-the-art salon ready for September 2026 in central London. We welcome skilled hair and beauty practitioners interested in teaching, and we provide support through an in-house teaching qualification to help you develop your teaching career.
In return, UCG offers generous annual leave, a defined-benefit pension scheme, interest-free season ticket loans, cycle schemes, free sight tests, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, and many other benefits.
We are committed to providing a unique, enjoyable, and rewarding learning experience that meets the individual needs and aspirations of all our learners.
Experience
Experience in hairdressing or beauty with a Level 2 qualification in either subject is required. Experience in finance, stock control, and cash handling is essential to support practical lesson preparation and departmental operations.
About you
You will have excellent communication and IT skills, be organised, and able to manage stock and financial systems effectively. Enthusiasm for supporting teaching staff and students is essential. A willingness to develop your teaching skills through our in-house qualification is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Minimum Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or beauty. No formal teaching qualification is required at application as support is provided to obtain this internally.
