About the Role
Camden Council is seeking an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary housing service. You will provide timely, accurate, and supportive housing and health assessment services for residents applying to our housing register and households approaching under homelessness legislation. Your main responsibility will be to assess the medical conditions of housing applicants, review submitted information, and where appropriate, recommend and support interventions such as specific equipment or adaptations.

You will carry out assessments for social housing and homelessness applicants in line with relevant legislation, codes of guidance, the Council’s housing allocations scheme, and internal policies to ensure fair responses while protecting the Council’s interests. Additionally, you will comment on layout plans for new build wheelchair accessible homes within the borough and may occasionally visit these developments.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience managing a dynamic and diverse caseload efficiently while striving for continuous improvement. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with various internal teams and external providers. Experience in hospital settings is desirable but not essential.

About you
You will be a skilled communicator and collaborator, working closely with teams such as Allocations, Homelessness Prevention, Adult Social Care, Housing OT Surveyors, SEND, Housing Partnerships, Voids and Repairs, Children, Schools and Families, and other partner agencies. You will be able to make appropriate assessments based on residents’ daily activities and explore alternative methods and strategies to help residents cope with functional deficits. You will also manage relationships with external medical assessment providers.

Qualifications
A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy (Degree or Diploma) and current HCPC registration are essential.
