About the Role
Join Peabody as a Housing Support Worker and make a real difference in the lives of young people aged 18–25, including care leavers. This role focuses on providing practical and emotional support to help young people build life skills, access housing, and gain independence. It is not a care role but involves supporting young people to develop skills such as managing benefits, budgeting, and navigating housing options. You will create a safe, non-judgmental environment where young people feel empowered and respected. Bringing your own passions, such as music, art, or sports, will help enrich the community and build meaningful connections. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure tailored support is provided at the right time. Peabody values kindness, integrity, innovation, diversity, and teamwork, creating a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
Experience
Experience working with young people, particularly those who have faced trauma, mental health challenges, or substance misuse is desirable. Transferable experience from youth work, education, housing, or similar sectors is valued.
About you
You connect easily with young people and are confident and creative in engaging them through interests such as music, sports, or art. You can work independently and as part of a team, managing a caseload and supporting residents with budgeting, benefits, and housing options. Strong communication and IT skills are essential. You demonstrate empathy, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting young people’s independence.
Qualifications
While no specific qualifications are required, knowledge of safeguarding, support plans, or key working is desirable. A positive attitude, flexibility, and a commitment to making a difference are essential.
