About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. This role is part of a large-scale programme where Mace acts as the Delivery Partner within the Mace Consults Central Government team. You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) policies, procedures, guidance notes and standards. You will liaise with all stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to HSW management, particularly with client counterparts, balancing ongoing client operations and construction works. Key responsibilities include carrying out inspections on behalf of the Delivery Partner, holding contractors to account, assisting with resolution of non-conformities from third party audits, and participating in the development of new standards and procedures to ensure compliance.
You will analyse audit results, corrective actions and KPIs to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement. Providing timely and accurate reporting to delivery partnering leadership, intelligent client function and the Senior Responsible Officer is essential. You will ensure incident investigations are completed on time and lessons are shared.
As a senior leader, you will manage and provide leadership to a team of managers and professionals, ensuring the right principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place to deliver area plans and excellence. You will provide performance management, technical development and coaching to both Mace and client teams, collaborating with senior leaders to deliver cost effective and efficient performance.
You will manage the HSW portion of procurement including ITT, PQQ and tender assessments. Driving a culture of proactive and positive HSW management across the Delivery Partner and wider programme team is a key focus. You will oversee HSW emergency preparedness in liaison with the estate H&S team and ensure compliance with legal duties across the programme, securing the safety and wellbeing of the Mace team.
Additionally, you will work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, sharing responsibility for proactive identification and management of associated carbon emissions and reductions during delivery.

Experience
Proven HSW leadership with advanced legislative knowledge, delivering assurance, audits and continuous improvement. Strong stakeholder influence with the ability to communicate and present technical information to non-technical audiences. Experience improving management systems, managing risk and change, with commercial awareness.

Qualifications
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification. Recognised HSW membership and continuous professional development. Solid construction industry knowledge.
