About the Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer for Foster Carers, you will play an integral role within the Fostering Team by monitoring and reviewing the quality and effectiveness of care standards provided by the council’s foster carers. This involves chairing independent annual and ad hoc fostering review meetings. You will identify strengths and gaps in the social work foster care assessment process and the support offered to carers. Additionally, you will identify practices that are not delivering good outcomes and constructively challenge these, both informally and formally, to improve practice. This post requires an Enhanced DBS check and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
Experience
Extensive experience of chairing complex meetings is essential. Proven advocacy skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with families, internal staff, and partner agencies within the professional network are required. Senior or managerial experience in leading multiple complex cases and supervision is highly desirable. Familiarity with Camden’s ways of working and the ability to develop within the role are important.

Qualifications
