About the Role
This role is based in the BBC News Russian London newsroom, contributing to the production, updating and translation of news stories for the BBC News Russian website. You will write on a wide range of topics and contribute to the ongoing live coverage of the Ukraine war. The role requires working under pressure to tight deadlines, often during breaking news situations. You will be part of a team delivering accurate, impartial and independent journalism guided by BBC values. The position involves working shifts, including late nights and weekends, to ensure continuous multimedia content delivery across global platforms and social media.

Key Responsibilities
Write, edit, translate and adapt news content for BBC News Russian across digital platforms, ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial standards. Develop original story ideas, cultivate sources and identify compelling angles. Manage breaking news stories, updating content quickly and accurately. Contribute creative ideas for digital storytelling and multimedia approaches. Collaborate with reporters and editorial colleagues to produce high-quality journalism. Use and adapt to digital publishing and news production systems. Build effective working relationships across the BBC to maximise the reach and impact of BBC News Russian output.

Experience
Substantial experience in digital journalism with a strong understanding of online news production, audience needs and multi-platform storytelling. Proven ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure, making sound editorial decisions and responding quickly to breaking news. Strong knowledge of media law, editorial standards and journalistic best practice.

About You
Full professional fluency in written and spoken Russian with outstanding writing, editing and translation skills. Strong command of English with excellent comprehension and ability to work effectively in a bilingual news environment. In-depth knowledge of Russian, regional and international news, politics and current affairs. Excellent understanding of social media platforms and their role in newsgathering, audience engagement and content distribution. Ability to produce content in various formats and build relationships with contributors, sources and key newsmakers.

Qualifications
