Hours
Full Time - 12 month Fixed Term Contract/Attachment. This role operates on a rota basis and will include weekend shifts as part of a rotating schedule. Flexible working options are available and will be discussed at offer stage.

Salary
£30,000 - £40,000 plus London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking.

About the Role
BBC News Mundo, part of the BBC World Service, is an international multimedia broadcaster delivering news and original stories to Spanish-speaking audiences across Latin America and beyond through digital platforms and social media including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and Whatsapp. We are seeking a passionate Journalist with strong digital video skills to join our team. You will work closely with the Senior Journalist Team Manager, producers, correspondents, contributors and editors to create original and impactful video content for BBC Mundo’s YouTube channel and other platforms. The role requires creativity, versatility, sound editorial judgment, and a strong understanding of international and Latin American affairs. You will be expected to film, edit, write scripts, respond to breaking news, and bring innovative storytelling ideas to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Use video, audio and digital equipment to research, report, produce, write or translate scripts, edit and adapt videos or TV programme material.
- Write timely, accurate, engaging digital video scripts for social media.
- Film and edit video in a timely and creative way.
- Understand metric analytics to tailor content to audience needs.
- Engage interactively with the audience.
- Ensure compliance with BBC Editorial principles, legal, contractual and copyright requirements.
- Prioritise and deliver material within tight deadlines.
- Travel on short reporting trips and assignments.
- Work flexibly across teams and skills in line with BBC standards and values.

Experience
- Full command and up-to-date knowledge of Spanish as a first or equivalent language with excellent written skills.
- Strong experience in digital video, including shooting and editing videos for social media.
- Evidence of recent original journalistic work of impact in the target area.
- Complete comprehension of written and spoken English with effective communication skills.
- Experience reporting on international and/or Latin American current affairs.

Qualifications
- Desired but not required: experience with live and recorded video presentation.
- Familiarity with international news and Latin American history, politics, social issues and culture.
- Knowledge of BBC World Service aims, objectives and standards.
- Understanding of the BBC’s distinctive news agenda and wider strategic interests.
