This is an existing role within our team with potential openings for multiple mid and senior level artists starting May 2025. The Layout Artist is responsible for CG camera animation using cinematography principles, shot composition, and character blocking to pre-visualise shots before animation begins. This work provides the foundation for upstream CG departments to construct shots.

Key responsibilities include camera, asset staging and blocking; overseeing Previs and Postvis ingestion; setup and maintenance of conforms; and shot content maintenance for animation.

Experience
Strong knowledge of Maya with excellent problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of the visual effects pipeline. Houdini knowledge is an advantage. Demonstrable experience in sequence and shot composition with good attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining continuity within sequences. Previous experience in scene layout to match previs or storyboard references. Good working knowledge of cinematography in a virtual environment. Experience in camera tracking and animation blocking is advantageous. Tracking and MatchMove experience in 3DEqualizer is beneficial.

About you
Excellent understanding of practical cameras and camera techniques. Strong technical problem-solving skills. Basic MEL and Python scripting skills are ideal but not required. Ability to work under pressure with potentially short turnaround times. Ability to take direction and feedback well from supervisors. Well-organized with the ability to create tidy scenes for use in the rest of the pipeline.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated; however, relevant experience and skills in CG layout, camera animation, and visual effects pipelines are essential.
