About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking ambitious, outstanding candidates to join our teaching staff as a Lecturer in Electrical Installation within the Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment department. We are a forward-thinking education provider committed to delivering outstanding, world-class education and skills to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.

As a Lecturer in Electrical Installation, you will coordinate the effective delivery of Electrical Installation study programmes across various levels, providing academic leadership and creating an engaging, relevant, and coherent curriculum. You will develop and maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, bringing in industry professionals where possible to enhance the curriculum and improve student employability.

Your role will include supporting and motivating learners to meet their individual aspirations and goals, including vocational qualifications and attendance to Maths and English if required. You will also coordinate the progression and tracking of learners’ achievements, leading study programmes to achieve outstanding student retention, progression, and achievement.

You will work cooperatively and contribute positively and creatively to a dedicated team of around 1,000 skilled staff who put the needs of students first.

We welcome candidates with industry experience and offer the opportunity to work towards a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or a Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants should have experience in Electrical Installations; teaching experience is preferable. Candidates must have a firm understanding of current electrical practice and preferably extensive industry experience.

Experience motivating, developing, and managing the performance of learners is essential.

Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and manage workload in a challenging environment is required.

Qualifications
- Must have a Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification or NVQ Level 3 (Essential)
- NICEIC registration (Desirable)
- Maths and English to Level 4 GCSE or equivalent (Essential)
- Assessors Qualification (Desirable)
- Teaching qualification Level 3 (Desirable)

Successful candidates will be required to work towards a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.
