About the Role

This Management Accountant role sits within the Children and Learning department. The finance team works collaboratively across the council and with residents and partners to provide a streamlined, efficient service that reflects best practice.
You will support Finance Business Partners by delivering a robust and responsive financial service to a Directorate, Director, Head of Service, Budget Holder, or Budget Manager. Key responsibilities include budget monitoring, management accounting, project support, and completing statutory returns as required.
The role requires interpreting financial data and applying logic and judgement, alongside understanding complex legislative and regulatory frameworks relevant to local government. You will contribute to financial planning, management, and frameworks within a large organisation, preferably local government.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, influencing, and presentation skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
Experience
Experience in financial planning, management accounting, and budget monitoring within a large organisation is preferred, ideally within local government.

You will be proactive, solution-focused, and able to work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret complex financial and regulatory information.
Qualifications
The post holder will be AAT qualified and studying for a CCAB or equivalent professional qualification.
