£46,006 - £52,329 (dependent on experience) plus Social Work England fee reimbursement and 5% AMHP Allowance (if applicable)

About the Role
Join the London Borough of Camden, rated Outstanding by the CQC Assurance framework, and be part of the new Mental Health Social Work Team within Adult Social Care. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively across health, social care, and voluntary sectors to provide high-quality, community-based mental health social care and support. You will manage your own social care workload, delivering timely, holistic assessments of needs for residents with mental illness and their families, balancing risk and maximising protective factors.

Your expertise will be essential in representing social work across integrated settings, responding to crises, safeguarding vulnerable adults, and supporting individuals with various mental health diagnoses using Camden’s strength-based “What Matters” approach. This role involves both short-term interventions to address immediate concerns and developing long-term relationships to promote recovery, trauma-informed care, and meaningful lives.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires an Enhanced DBS check.

Experience
Qualified Social Worker with suitable qualifying experience, registered with Social Work England. Experience in managing social care workloads within mental health settings is essential. Knowledge and application of the Care Act 2014 and current mental health legislation are required.

About you
Passionate about delivering strengths-based social work, you will promote best interests of residents and carers, assess situations effectively, and take appropriate professional action. You will contribute to a collaborative and reflective team environment and be willing to develop skills such as coordinating Mental Health Act assessments and participating in Camden’s AMHP Duty Rota. If not already qualified, you should be willing to complete AMHP Training.

Qualifications
Registered Social Worker with Social Work England. AMHP qualification is desirable or willingness to undertake training.
