About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Join the Cost and Commercial Management team to work with a select group of key strategic clients in the Education sector. This role involves advising across a full range of cost planning, project budgeting, forecasting, and strategic procurement services. Responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies and benchmarking, applying value management techniques at project outset, managing estimating and cost planning activities including ownership and presentation of the final cost plan, and overseeing the procurement process from pre-qualification through to contract preparation. You will ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances, change control processes, cost checking, valuation work, and the production and presentation of monthly post-contract cost reports to clients. Additionally, you will negotiate and agree final accounts, act as a key interface with clients and consultants at all project stages, and support marketing and business development efforts to promote Mace in the region. Knowledge of standard industry contract forms and assisting in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients is essential.

Experience
Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice undertaking a similar role.
Experience working with Education sector clients.
Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on capital planning, forecasting, and strategic procurement.
Strong understanding of industry best practice.
Experience managing people and risk management.
Proficient in Excel including sortation formulas, pivot tables, and graphs.
Understanding of wider industry issues such as Sustainability, Social Value, and Carbon Reduction.

Qualifications
A degree in quantity surveying, cost management, or equivalent.
Professional membership MRICS (Essential).
