About the Role
This is an exciting leadership role within the Neighbourhoods and Environment Directorate. You will lead, plan, develop, and deliver an expert professional service, driving cross-working and innovation. The role focuses on designing a high-quality, ‘best in class’ delivery model that places residents at the heart of neighbourhoods to reduce inequality, activate placemaking across the borough, and deliver on key strategic objectives including crime reduction, sustainability, and addressing health inequalities. You will be responsible for managing priority programmes, fostering a culture of transformation and innovation, and establishing strong relationships with senior political leadership, strategic teams, staff, peers, external bodies, and stakeholders. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for commerciality and collaboratively design new delivery models while proactively managing emerging and strategic risks across the directorate.
Experience
- Direct experience structuring, running, and managing complex multi-stream services, business change projects, programmes, and portfolios.
- Proven ability to build excellent relationships with senior managers and Members to ensure delivery of corporate visions and priorities.
- Experience in detailed resource management and implementing new resourcing approaches.
- Skilled in managing a varied workload with conflicting priorities, responding effectively to customer needs.
- Competent in report writing and communications for diverse audiences, demonstrating numeracy and literacy.
- Experience handling complex and contentious matters requiring support, persuasion, advocacy, and awareness of major policy objectives.
- Experience in matrix management and coordinating employees across multiple major functions.
- Strong leadership, influencing, people engagement, and people management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously to meet organisational objectives.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to empathise with stakeholders and influence commitment.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with a strong focus on delivery.
