About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and beyond. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced NEPTS Fleet Controller to join our busy 24/7 Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS). This service supports patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals by other means due to medical or mobility conditions, ensuring safe and timely transport to and from our Trust sites and across mainland UK.
The NEPTS Fleet Controller plays a crucial role in supporting the NEPTS Shift Managers and Transport Manager by managing the daily operations of the NEPTS fleet. This includes ensuring all vehicles and specialist equipment are available, serviced, and maintained to enable Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA) and Emergency Care Assistants (ECA) to complete patient transfers safely and in line with Trust and Department of Health policies.
Key responsibilities include managing vehicle and equipment availability, monitoring maintenance and defects, utilising the CLERIC system for journey planning and fleet management, and covering shifts as an Ambulance Care Assistant when required. You will be part of a dedicated, friendly, and supportive in-house transport team committed to delivering a high-quality service that meets ISO9001 standards and undergoes regular successful external audits.

Experience
- Experienced driver moving patients of all mobility levels
- Experience in Patient Risk Assessment
- Experience in Vehicle Maintenance systems
- Experience working with and maintaining databases and Microsoft systems
- Desirable: Experience in a customer-focused role within healthcare
About you
- Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Motivated to improve the service collaboratively with your team
- Awareness of health and safety regulations, particularly related to patient care
- Willingness to undertake training and development and to train others on new systems
Qualifications
- English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Hold a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 penalty points
