About the Role
The BBC is expanding its portfolio of editorial email newsletters for international audiences and is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Newsletter Editor to join the Newsletters team within the Commercial News division of BBC Studios. Reporting to the Senior Newsletter Editor, you will curate, write, edit and produce content for multiple editorial newsletters, including The Essential List, Health Fix, Future Earth and In History, with a focus on audiences outside the UK, particularly North America. You will work closely with journalists in Features and Curation teams to meet weekly deadlines, maintaining BBC editorial standards and values across all newsletter output. Your role will involve using data and audience insights to inform editorial decisions, develop reader habits and build community engagement. You will also maintain newsletter templates, respond to reader feedback, produce performance reports, and contribute to long-term editorial strategy. Additionally, you will experiment with formats and subjects to create habit-forming products, collaborate with wider BBC teams and correspondents, and act as an ambassador for best newsletter practices. Staying abreast of industry trends and their implications for the BBC will be an important part of your role.
Experience
- Recent experience as a journalist demonstrating a high standard of editorial judgement.
- Proven ability to write and edit editorial content for email newsletters or digital platforms with sharp attention to detail, accuracy and flair.
- Experience making editorial decisions quickly under pressure and adapting to changing agendas.
- Understanding of how newsletters can drive growth, develop habit and build communities.
- Experience using analytics to develop ideas and inform editorial strategy.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and build strong working relationships.
