About the Role
The Output Integration Manager will play a key role within the Integration Authority (IA), the guiding mind for integration of the Portfolio of Investment for the North, including Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) post Transpennine Route Upgrade. The IA uses a fully integrated systems-based approach to manage railway change and integration, coordinating multiple organisations to deliver an integrated railway network.
This role involves engaging with key stakeholders across the NPR Programme and its interfaces, including Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, Department for Transport, and Train Operating Companies, to maintain alignment and enable adoption of the Integration Management Framework.
The role requires travel and working at multiple office locations primarily in the North of England and London.
Key responsibilities include leading structured stakeholder engagement and dependency management, building effective relationships to maximise network value, supporting the implementation of the integration management framework aligned with the NPR business case, coordinating integration outcomes with safety assurance and approvals, reporting to the North of England Integration Board, and performing Level of Defence 2 assurance activities.
The role supports the development and implementation of the Integration Authority Strategy to integrate the NPR Portfolio into a customer-centric, optimised railway system designed for whole life reliability, maintainability, operability, and cost effectiveness.
Experience
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent
- Chartered engineer or professional railway operator
- Experience managing large, complex client portfolios with significant commercial success
- Proven leadership with substantial managerial experience and excellent communication skills
- Experience in design and integration of complex engineering and/or operational systems
- Sound knowledge of technical, safety, and performance standards
- Proven influencing and negotiating skills

Qualifications
- Chartered engineer or professional railway operator status
- Desirable: MBA or related postgraduate qualification

- Desirable: Experience in systems engineering in safety critical environments
- Desirable: Major projects experience in infrastructure or transportation
- Desirable: Extensive understanding of regulatory landscape, government standards, and Department for Transport ways of working
