About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is renowned for clinical excellence, high quality teaching, and world-leading research, and is part of King’s Health Partners, an accredited UK academic health sciences centre.

In February 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals joined the Trust, creating a world-renowned heart and lung centre. The Trust prides itself on delivering safe, high quality care with one of the lowest mortality rates in the NHS and an overall CQC rating of ‘good’, with adult community services rated ‘outstanding’.

This role involves providing an efficient and effective medical administration and secretarial service to the Respiratory Medicine care group/division, supporting designated consultants, junior medical staff, and the multidisciplinary team. You will facilitate patient appointments and admissions, provide cover for other medical secretaries, and act as a first point of contact for patients and staff, handling enquiries with tact and discretion.

The majority of work is undertaken using the EPIC system, and experience with this system is advantageous. Key responsibilities include liaising with outpatients and relevant departments to arrange appointments and investigations, coordinating patient admissions, communicating with external agencies, assisting with complaints, managing clinical documentation, scheduling procedures, and supporting service development and resource management within the team.

The Trust values a caring, ambitious, and inclusive culture, putting patients first while striving for excellence and collaboration. It is committed to flexible working and supporting a healthy work-life balance for all employees.
