Job overview An exciting opportunity is available for a Patient Safety Officer for the Haematology, Oncology and Surgical Oncology Directorates. The Patient Safety Officer will support the Patient Safety and Quality Leads for the Directorates to deliver the Clinical Governance, Patient Safety and Quality Improvement agendas. This includes co-ordinating and responding to complaints and PALs, supporting the Directorates with FOI requests and Quality Alerts from GPs and where required, supporting data collection to monitor and improve services, including patient and public involvement. Main duties of the job The Patient Safety Officer will support the Patient Safety and Quality Leads for the 3 Directorates in all aspects of governance and safety across the directorates. This will include implementation of governance systems and processes, including maintenance of the directorate risk register, liaison with staff undertaking audits and assurance of compliance with national and local guidance, management of projects. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Support the Patient Safety Leads in implementing Patient Safety directives and governance processes and make recommendations for improvement as appropriate Maintain the directorate investigations and outcomes tracker Act as point of contact for staff for Radar queries including new staff and amendments to current profiles as well as ad-hoc, 1:1 training provision Facilitate the directorate response to informal complaints Managing incoming PALs and allocating to the appropriate team Monitoring of response targets.
