The Planning Manager will be responsible for supporting the planning team in the development and management of the overall schedule management which considers all methodologies required to develop and manage the schedule including working and reporting calendars, resources, costs, interfaces, claims, risks, constraints and assumptions. The role holder shall provide leadership in scheduling and resourcing throughout the delivery of AMP8, ensuring that the schedule management plan is being complied with across the project, including by the Project Delivery Partner and the appointed contractor(s). You’ll be responsible for overseeing the development, review and maintenance of integrated project programmes, ensuring alignment with scope, milestones and contractual obligations. Identifying schedule risks, constraints and opportunities, and supporting the development of mitigation, recovery and acceleration plans. Monitoring project progress against baseline programmes, identifying variances and producing accurate progress reports, dashboards and forecasts. Providing guidance to team members and contributing to the continuous enhancement of project delivery outcomes. Ensuring planning processes, reporting cycles and governance arrangements are consistently applied across projects. Providing advice and challenge to project teams on programme strategy, critical path analysis and change impacts. Supporting delay analysis, change control and extension of time assessments by maintaining clear programme records and evidence. Developing the capability of junior planning staff through coaching, guidance and performance support. Performing additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in schedule management and a proven track record of conducting schedule management activities in high value water projects or projects of a similar scale and complexity. Tangible experience of coordinating and organising multiple sources of schedule inputs and performance data into a master schedule platform and delivering project/program status reports as required. Proven track record of carrying out scheduling and resource management in multiple large scale/value projects and programmes. Prior experience of advanced capability and experience of scheduling systems administrative functions such as layouts, resources, reports, codes, etc. In-depth understanding of the design and delivery requirements of technically complex projects in the architectural, engineering or construction sectors. Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, influencing the improvement of process and providing guidance to support project delivery and reporting. Knowledge of quality management and process improvement practices and systems is desirable, preferably within the construction sector.

Qualifications
Minimum degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area such as Project Management or Business Administration. Professional qualifications or memberships are desired, for example APM PMQ. Experience with P6 EPPM scheduling software is essential.
