About the Role
Camden Council is seeking a passionate and motivated Planning Officer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Development Management team. In this role, you will manage and assess a wide range of planning applications and requests for pre-application advice. You will play a key role in negotiating planning obligations and have opportunities to contribute to projects supporting Camden’s digital strategy and ambition to tackle the climate crisis.
You will handle casework from the pre-application stage through to final decisions on applications, including negotiating planning performance agreements and appeals when required. Your work will reflect the Council’s priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes for residents and the built environment.

Experience
Experience in development management, preferably within a local authority setting, with a sound understanding of planning legislation at local, regional, and national levels.

Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders including residents, councillors, and developers. Skilled at negotiation and problem-solving, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results. Enthusiastic about using digital tools and innovative approaches to improve planning services and outcomes for Camden’s communities.
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning (or working towards one) and eligibility for membership of the RTPI.
