About the Role
As a DevOps / Platform Engineer in the Common Platform team, you will be embedded within the Streaming business area, working out of our London office. The Streaming team focuses on delivering content to customers through our online platform, particularly the innovative ITVX product. You will also be part of the wider Common Platform team, sharing best practices, capabilities, and tooling across embedded Platform Engineers.
The Common Platform leverages open source, cloud native, and SaaS tooling, packaging these into highly automated, easy-to-deploy template architectures and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns. Your role will involve designing and implementing infrastructure use cases, upgrading the platform, troubleshooting issues, and coaching software developers in AWS usage.
Key responsibilities include implementing IaC with Terraform, prioritising upgrades and business delivery within Streaming, reviewing and approving pull requests, maintaining infrastructure including Prometheus, managing Kubernetes deployments in AWS, designing future infrastructure, and contributing improvements within the Common Platform team.
Experience
- Proven knowledge of secure cloud practices and building scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, preferably Terraform, and version control strategies
- Experience with containerisation and deploying container workloads, ideally on Kubernetes
- Experience with Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
- Experience responding to production incidents to diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related issues
About you
- Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation balanced with resilient infrastructure needs
- In-depth knowledge of Linux environments (CentOS, Amazon Linux 2)
- Experience working within Agile delivery methodologies
- Strong communication skills with ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, especially in design and code collaboration (e.g. PR reviews)
- Passionate about teamwork and building relationships across multiple teams (embedded and Common Platform)
- Able to travel to London twice a week for collaboration
- Experience with Kubernetes management tools such as Helm
