About the Role
Be a vital support to Local Democracy in Tower Hamlets as the Political Advisor to the Mayor. You will provide policy, administrative, and communications support and advice to the Elected Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets Council. The Executive Mayor leads the Council's priorities through the Strategic Plan and Mayoral/Cabinet decision-making. Your role will be wide-ranging and include coordinating meetings, drafting briefings, and preparing and reviewing reports. You will take a lead role in supporting the Mayor and Executive's ambitions for the borough and support the Council’s decision-making processes, particularly regarding key strategies and policies presented to the Mayor/Cabinet for decision.
You will act as a key link between the Mayor and Executive with senior officers at the Council and external stakeholders and partners. The role involves working on sensitive and complex issues in a dynamic and challenging political environment.
This is a politically restricted post, fixed term until 31 May 2030 subject to annual review by the Executive Mayor. Your political affiliations and interests will be discussed at interview. Your work will primarily be office-based at the Town Hall.

Experience
Proven ability to work in a high-profile, fast-paced political environment. Experience managing sensitive information with discretion and producing high-quality briefings, reports, and communications at pace. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior politicians, officers, partners, political groups, and stakeholders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, high-quality materials. Able to work independently, think critically, and provide sound advice. Collaborative by nature with a focus on building good relationships internally and externally.
Qualifications
