About the Role
The Financial Times (FT) is a globally recognised news organisation known for its authority, integrity and accuracy. Our Product & Tech teams deliver cutting-edge products to over one million digital subscribers daily, driving growth through a diverse and dynamic group of specialists. We foster a supportive culture with an entrepreneurial spirit and offer limitless career opportunities.
As Principal Engineer – Integration Services, you will establish and lead the Integration Services capability within Internal Products. You will own the technical direction, engineering capability, people leadership, delivery and operational performance of shared integration and engineering services. Your role will define reusable Internal Products capabilities versus domain-specific ownership, establishing common integration approaches, reusable services and engineering patterns that reduce duplication and enable safe, reliable system connectivity.
You will provide senior technical leadership across major transformation programmes, including the Commercial Technology Programme, ensuring integration decisions contribute to a coherent and sustainable technology estate. Additionally, you will build and develop a high-performing team, establishing the engineering capability, operating model and ways of working required for a successful shared service organisation.
Your responsibilities include defining integration strategy and technical direction, building reusable shared services, promoting engineering quality and automation, leading strategic programmes, managing delivery and planning, ensuring operational excellence, fostering cross-domain collaboration, and managing vendor and technology partnerships.
This role offers the opportunity to influence and shape the future of integration capabilities at the FT, balancing strategic vision with practical delivery and operational realities.
