About the Role
Join Balfour Beatty as an IT Procurement Category Manager and take ownership of the procurement and strategic management of IT services across the organisation. This key role requires strong commercial awareness, a thorough understanding of IT supply markets, and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. You will work closely with business leaders to identify requirements, provide expert procurement guidance, and lead sourcing activities that deliver value, manage risk, and support organisational objectives. You will ensure robust procurement processes and due diligence are undertaken to maintain a high-performing supply chain.
Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering a category strategy aligned with business objectives and sustainability goals, leading end-to-end sourcing activities through the eProcurement platform, negotiating commercial agreements, and driving Supplier Relationship Management practices. You will also ensure supplier compliance with legal, regulatory and ethical standards, develop a preferred supplier framework, communicate procurement activities effectively, and monitor market trends to identify opportunities for innovation and risk mitigation.

Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement and category management, with 3-5 years specifically in IT procurement.
- Proven track record leading end-to-end sourcing, tendering and supplier selection.
- Strong experience negotiating and managing commercial agreements including terms and conditions.
- Sound knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, supplier management and relevant regulations.
- Experience building and maintaining effective supplier relationships and driving supplier performance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/eProcurement systems.

Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline is desirable.
- CIPS qualified, studying towards CIPS, or holding an equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
- Demonstrable professional procurement qualifications and relevant experience are preferred.
