About the Role
The Barbican is a multidisciplinary international arts centre in the City of London, showcasing a diverse range of performances, events, and exhibitions that inspire millions each year. The Centre collaborates with local communities and supports emerging talent in the creative industries.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to join the Barbican Music team. This role involves coordinating all aspects of pre-production and event management for music events across genres, held in the Barbican Concert Hall and off-site venues.

The successful candidate will deliver productions to the highest technical and artistic standards through advanced planning, administration, communication, budgeting, and event supervision. A working knowledge of event travel, hotels, backline, technical riders, staging, visas, and FEU tax is essential. Evening and weekend work are integral to this role.

This position focuses on event production rather than technical production and requires substantial experience in event management within a multi-disciplinary arts venue, music festival, or performing arts organisation.

The role demands excellent multitasking, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, alongside the ability to work under pressure and manage complex projects and budgets effectively.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in event management within a multi-disciplinary arts venue, major music venue, or events company.
- Extensive knowledge of music, including contemporary and classical genres.
- Experience managing music events in a Concert Hall environment.
- Strong understanding of event production, stage, and technical delivery.
- Familiarity with the UK points-based visa system.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and risk assessments for live music events.
- Understanding of FEU tax procedures.
- Proficiency with production support systems such as Artifax and excellent IT skills.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication.
- Experience managing complex budgets and projects.

About you
- Passionate about the arts and music industry.
- Excellent organisational and facilitation skills.
- Ability to juggle conflicting priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, able to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Able to work inclusively and foster positive outcomes.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications
- No specific qualifications required; however, relevant experience and skills as outlined above are essential.
