About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services across south London, including specialist care in cancer, renal, orthopaedics, respiratory and cardiovascular services. The Trust includes five major hospitals and community services, with a strong reputation for clinical excellence, research, and innovation.
The Project Manager will provide senior leadership for a strategically significant, multi-site innovation programme: the SBRI-funded project “Accelerating Lung Cancer Diagnosis Through AI-Guided Robotic Navigation Bronchoscopy.” This role involves leading all planning, delivery, governance, and evaluation coordination across a high-value portfolio with national visibility. The post-holder will manage complex interdependencies between digital, diagnostic, and surgical transformation efforts, and oversee patient engagement and real-world evaluation in partnership with external stakeholders.
The role requires oversight of a multi-partner innovation programme involving commercial, academic, and NHS contributors, responsibility for programme delivery, performance monitoring, and risk management across multiple NHS Trusts and clinical sites, and management of sensitive patient involvement and public engagement activities. The Project Manager will translate strategic intent into implementable service change in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment and produce Board-level briefings, evaluation inputs, and impact evidence for NHS England and national funders.
The post-holder will report to the Deputy General Manager for Surgical Oncology and collaborate closely with the Cancer Transformation Programme Manager, senior clinicians, research partners, and national programme leads. This role demands expert-level project management skills, independence, judgement, and diplomacy. The projects managed may evolve as the innovation portfolio grows, contributing to the Group’s ambition to lead nationally in surgical and diagnostic innovation.
