The Sustainability team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Project Support Officer – Sustainability.
Main duties of the job
To assist and support the Associate Director of Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability Manager in implementing commitments in the the trusts' Sustainability Strategy/Green Plan across a range of themes and areas.
The post holder will be expected to manage their own workload and be directly responsible for individual projects.
Working for our organisation
The Project Support Officer – Sustainability role sits within the Essentia Directorate of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) but the role will work across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Essentia is the in-house team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ providing many non-clinical services, from housekeeping to engineering, patient catering to receptionists; we are vital to the safe and effective running of the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To use project management techniques to support the delivery of the Sustainability Strategies/Green Plans and to provide project support as required.
Support communication and engagement to ensure that the strategies/plans are communicated in a co-ordinated way within the Trusts and elsewhere.
Support the successful operation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Support with data entry, data collation and data analysis.
Provide detailed reports on the programme to ensure that improvements are maintained during and at the end of each project.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
Education to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and other IT software including PowerPoint, Excel and Access.
Desirable criteria
Further education qualifications or relevant ‘on the job’ training
Experience with creative applications/software such as InDesign, Mailchimp
Experience
Essential criteria
Range of experience in environmental sustainability management or equivalent
Experience of project work and planning / organisation and co-ordination of work
Desirable criteria
Some NHS experience
Specific experience with management of environmental sustainability issue(s).
Skills
Essential criteria
Clear understanding of environmental sustainability issues in the health setting, including energy management, procurement, transport and staff/patient engagement
Advanced experience in problem solving
Desirable criteria
Knowledge of current relevant technologies, including energy saving, waste, etc.
Understanding of building services
