About the Role
Southwark Council Public Health Division is recruiting a full-time Public Health Practitioner Apprentice on a fixed term contract for 39 months. This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of public health projects, supporting your learning and development goals. You will gain a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of East London and be eligible to apply for UKPHR Public Health Practitioner registration. Attendance at the University of East London is required once a week throughout the programme. This role is part of Southwark Council’s commitment to developing the public health workforce and providing practical experience alongside academic achievement.
Experience
No prior experience in public health is required. Applicants should not hold a degree in public health or any other degree, nor should they be currently working towards public health professional registration such as UKPHR Practitioner.
About you
You are a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in public health. You must be ready to start the role in mid-January 2026 and meet one of the criteria outlined in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules (August 2025 - July 2026).
Qualifications
You must have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (e.g. 2 A levels) and a minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent (e.g. Level 2) in Mathematics and English. A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced level is required for this post.
