Salary
£40,000-£52,000 per year depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The successful candidate will also receive a £5,441 London Weighting Allowance. The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead as a publicist within the Communications team, working on BBC Radio 2 within the Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music and Pop Music TV team. Longer term, you may work on a wider range of programming across the department. This role is ideal for a very experienced, creative and enthusiastic communications professional with a passion for pop music, entertainment and radio. You will promote a wide range of world-exclusive programming, including Radio 2 in the Park, Radio 2 Piano Room and 21st Century Folk, as well as various outside broadcasts and special events.

Working within the UK’s biggest single radio station (12.4 million weekly listeners), you will contribute to the success of Radio 2, home to the UK’s most loved presenters such as Sara Cox, Vernon Kay, Jeremy Vine, Trevor Nelson, Jo Whiley, Rylan and Romesh Ranganathan. The station targets a 35+ audience, combining pop music and culture with specialist music, arts and current affairs programming, ensuring a varied and interesting workload where no two days are the same. This role offers the chance to work on impactful content for a huge audience while gaining invaluable experience.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record of creating and delivering high-profile, impactful publicity campaigns in the entertainment, music, media or broadcast industry.
- Experience securing coverage across online, print, broadcast and social media for high-profile clients.
- Skilled in identifying and managing reputational issues and crisis communications, providing sound advice to senior colleagues, presenters and their representatives.
- Extensive network of contacts across national and local media including print, broadcast and online outlets.
- Accomplished writer able to tell stories succinctly and find innovative ways to promote content to broad audiences.
- Experience creating content for social media and online platforms to build interest.
- Extensive experience working with presenters and their representatives.
- Good understanding of the music and wider entertainment news agenda and cycle, particularly pop music, with the ability to spot potential stories and generate coverage quickly.
