About the Role
As a Receipt & Distribution Operative within Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, you will be fully conversant with the Procurement Department's Supply Chain programme and procedures. Your key responsibilities include receiving stock, unpacking, and replenishing stores or storerooms in relevant wards and clinical departments while ensuring continuous stock rotation. You will verify deliveries against requisitions, orders, or receipt numbers, investigate discrepancies, and resolve queries. You will arrange uplifts and request credits where necessary for the relevant departments.
You will also receive, deliver, and unpack supplies for non-clinical areas and follow the supplies transfer of goods process for sign-off at all times. Transporting supplies securely across different Trust locations is essential, ensuring heavy and large supplies are moved safely. Working as part of a team in the supplies storage areas, you will keep and store all supplies securely in line with safe storage requirements and identify items requiring specialist storage such as refrigeration.
You will be responsible for the security of goods in transit, ensuring supplies are correctly signed for during delivery, and for the safe and secure return of undelivered or returned supplies to the correct storage area. Any supply discrepancies or damage must be reported promptly to the service Help Desk and on-site manager.
Collaboration with wards and departments to identify and agree delivery times for supplies, including large and heavy stock items like furniture and clinical equipment, is a key part of the role. You will ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety and manual handling rules when moving heavy supply items within the Trust.
You will also participate in the development of service policies and procedures relevant to the role and carry out any reasonable duties as requested by your line manager. Adherence to Trust policies and procedures, which are regularly updated, is required at all times.
