About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is home to Europe’s largest dental school, a £160 million Cancer Centre, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and a large critical care unit. It is part of King’s Health Partners and works closely with King’s College London to deliver world-leading clinical research and patient care.

The Research Business & Finance Officer will work within the oncology and haematology clinical trials teams, supporting high-quality research and business management services. The primary focus of this role is to provide ongoing financial management support by monitoring expenses, income, and activity against budgets, and coordinating finance functions to ensure timely recovery of clinical trial income.

The post holder will collaborate with investigators, research team leads, R&D, and external stakeholders to coordinate the setup of research projects and clinical trials within the departments. This role involves producing quarterly financial reports and forecasts, managing invoicing and queries, maintaining research activity databases, reviewing non-commercial agreements, and contributing to the strategic development of the Business Support function through professional development and financial training initiatives.

Working within a large, multidisciplinary team of over ninety staff, including Research Nurses, Clinical Trial Practitioners, and Coordinators, the role supports a diverse portfolio of Phase II and III trials, early phase trials, and observational studies. The team’s mission is to improve treatment choice, clinical care, and outcomes for cancer patients through innovation, dedication, and excellence in clinical trials.
