About the Role
Work at the centre of Defence, helping to strengthen assurance, improve performance and support better decision-making. This role sits within Defence Risk & Assurance (DRA), Defence's Risk Centre of Excellence, supporting the Chief Risk Officer in strengthening risk management, assurance and governance across Defence and providing advice and insight to senior leaders.
As a Risk & Assurance Adviser, you will support Defence's assurance activity by tracking audit management actions, coordinating assurance information and working closely with the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) and stakeholders across Defence. You will analyse assurance data, identify themes and trends, and help produce reporting and insights for senior leaders.
This is a great opportunity for an organised, analytical and curious Higher Executive Officer (HEO) to develop expertise in risk, assurance and governance while working on high-profile issues at the centre of Defence.
You will help provide a clear picture of audit activity, assurance findings and improvement actions across Defence, ensuring audit management actions are effectively tracked, monitored and reported. Your role includes coordinating evidence, monitoring progress against agreed actions, identifying key themes and insights, and producing dashboards, reports and briefing material to support governance forums and senior decision-makers.
You will also contribute to improving tools, processes and reporting used to support assurance across Defence, helping to develop a stronger assurance culture. Working as part of a small, collaborative team, you will have opportunities to contribute to a wider range of risk and assurance activities, developing your knowledge and experience across governance, assurance and risk management.
Experience
Experience supporting corporate, governance, performance, risk or assurance-related activity, or transferable experience involving coordination, reporting, information management or stakeholder engagement.
About you
Strong organisational skills, including managing competing priorities and deadlines. Ability to use data and management information to support decisions, reporting or performance tracking. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining information clearly to different audiences. Ability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders. You do not need to be a risk or assurance specialist to apply; we are looking for someone who can organise information, build relationships, use data well and communicate clearly.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required, but experience and skills relevant to governance, assurance, risk management, coordination, and reporting are essential.
