About the Role
As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of children, parents, and vulnerable individuals crossing the road to and from school. You will work every school day during term time, typically from 8:15-9:15 am and 3:00-4:00 pm. Your responsibilities will include managing variable traffic conditions, reporting localised highway issues, and providing a reassuring presence for the school community. You will be provided with a personal hi-vis jacket, cap, and gloves to wear while working, which can be kept on site.

Experience
Previous experience is not required, but a strong commitment to the role is essential.

About You
You should be reliable, able to work on your feet for two hours every day in all weather conditions, and resourceful in managing traffic. You will carry out your duties with care for children and other road users, providing a reassuring presence on the road. Flexibility to provide emergency cover for other designated school crossing patrol locations is also required.

Qualifications
Knowledge of the rules of the road, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to pass a DBS check (previously known as a Criminal Record check) are essential.
