About the Role
Havering SEND and Alternative Provision Service is a multi-disciplinary team of Educational Psychologists, Advisory Teachers, Early Years specialists, Counsellors, Occupational Therapists and other specialist staff. The team works collaboratively to support children and young people with SEND and their families, alongside the schools and educational settings they attend.

We are seeking a SEND Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) Lead to join the Education Directorate. This role will lead the development and implementation of a borough-wide Preparation for Adulthood strategy, working closely with colleagues across health, social care and other key stakeholders to ensure children and young people with SEND achieve meaningful outcomes and successful transitions into adulthood.

The postholder will champion Preparation for Adulthood principles throughout education pathways, EHCP processes and multi-agency practice. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and implementation of the borough-wide PfA strategy
- Strengthening the quality of annual reviews, person-centred planning and transition pathways across schools and colleges
- Building workforce capacity through training, guidance and professional development
- Collaborating with schools, post-16 providers, employers and partner agencies to improve education, employment and independent living opportunities
- Playing a key role in developing and supporting Havering's SEND Employment Forum
- Ensuring PfA outcomes are embedded within EHCPs and quality assurance processes
- Developing information, resources and guidance for families, young people and professionals
- Engaging strategically with schools, colleges, families and partner organisations to drive improvement and system change

Experience
Experience working within SEND services or educational settings is highly desirable. Proven ability to lead multi-agency initiatives and develop strategic approaches to support young people with SEND through transition to adulthood.

You will be a motivated and collaborative professional with strong leadership skills and a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You should be able to work effectively across education, health and social care sectors and engage with a wide range of stakeholders including families, schools and partner organisations.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications and experience in SEND, education or related fields are expected. A clear understanding of EHCP processes, person-centred planning and Preparation for Adulthood principles is essential.
