About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support the smooth operation of accounting processes across BBC Finance Operations, leading the team delivering Corporate Function divisional accounts. You will support the Finance Controller to ensure all period-end deadlines are met, delivering accurate and timely accounting while adhering to the internal control framework. This role involves managing the integrity and controllership of reported actuals, including income statement, balance sheet, and cashflow statement.

The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and expertise in financial reporting standards (IFRS). You will oversee the division’s day-to-day financial operations, ensuring ledger accuracy and timely preparation of monthly management information and financial statements. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will quickly establish yourself as a trusted and credible finance professional.

Key responsibilities include ensuring a robust accounting close process for month and year-end, line managing the divisional accounting team, validating monthly actuals, liaising with external stakeholders including outsource providers and auditors, and providing expert financial advice to support informed business decisions. You will also work closely with finance and business colleagues to deliver accurate reporting while maintaining compliance with internal finance controls and accounting standards. Effective communication of complex financial matters to non-finance stakeholders is essential.

This role requires embracing new technologies and evolving working practices using lean methodologies to continuously improve processes.

Experience
- Fully qualified CCAB accountant with strong understanding of financial controls.
- Substantial experience managing and coaching a finance team, planning activities to meet tight deadlines.
- Confident liaising with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders with a service delivery focus.
- Strong technical knowledge, ideally with IFRS experience and financial reporting expertise.
- Proven track record of continuous improvement and implementing new processes.
- Ability to build solid working relationships across teams.
- Inquisitive mindset with the ability to investigate and resolve complex problems.
