St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients. In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Job overview The role of Senior Business Delivery Manager to the Director of Innovation and Industry Partnerships is a key post within the Deputy Chief Executive (DCEO) team and the Centre for Innovation, Transformation and Improvement (CITI). The main purpose of this role is to lead, manage and deliver the objective tasks on behalf of the Director, in line with the Trust's 2030 Strategy; Better, Faster, Fairer Healthcare. The post holder will provide direct, personal and leadership support to the Director to ensure their work is coordinated and actioned in a timely manner. Working across the wider system and Trust so the Director is briefed for meetings, actions are followed up and the Director is effective in their full range of roles and duties. The post holder will provide HR, finance, and operational support to the Director in their capacity as a managing Director of CITI, working closely with the Director's key reports and forging close working relationships with the Business Adminstration team that supports the office of the DCEO and CEO. The post holder will deliver within demanding time frames the operational, business, and strategic support to the Director, whilst providing high level administrative support ensuring an efficient and high-quality service is delivered for the benefit of staff and patients. This is a fast paced role that will suit an individual with key skills in providing executive level support and business administration. Main duties of the job Provide direct and personal support for the Director; problem solving and troubleshooting according to need and to ensure the Director can be effective in the full range of roles and duties Exercising delegated authority on behalf of the Director to facilitate resolution of day-to-day management issues within the Trust, providing support to the wider executive team Prepare briefings and various reports detailing complex and sensitive information in a systematic and logical structure to ensure the Director is effectively briefed and appropriately sighted on key areas. Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Trust clinical and corporate services, regional and national government departments, regulatory bodies and other NHS Trusts and service providers. Represent the Director at relevant Trust and external London and national meetings and events. Coordinate and support various programmes that sit under the Director's portfolio, across multiple partners and stakeholders to ensure their timely and efficient implementation and delivery Act as the key focal point ensuring consistent communication to managers, staff, patients, stakeholders and other relevant parties around the delivery of strategic projects. Develop communications and engagement plans to ensure internal and external stakeholders receive timely, consistent communication about programmes of work. Working for our organisation The Centre for Innovation, Transformation and Improvement (CITI) at Guy’s and St Thomas’s was founded in 2021 under the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE). The DCE is the Executive Director responsible for leading and developing the Trust’s strategy for innovation and improvement, which aims to develop an ecosystem that encourages the acceleration of new knowledge and capabilities and learn from best practices globally, to deliver improvements in patient care at scale. CITI co-locates multi-faceted teams to provide the focal point for clinical innovators and services seeking to translate ideas or early stage products or improvements into clinical practice. The Centre aims both to incubate and deliver innovations and improvement ideas, projects and programmes, working alongside and for its clinical customers for the benefit of patients. CITI builds on industry best practice in taking innovation from concept to practice. It aims to foster a culture of innovation and improvement throughout the Trust, and acts as the intellectual home of our core improvement methodologies. Responsible for the evaluation, performance management and improvement of services and projects against strategic and operational plans. Responsible for reporting on progress against the business plan and programme plans to senior clinical teams, the Executive and Board and to external governing bodies. Responsible for drafting local reports as required and implementing action plans to achieve operational directives as appropriate. Act as the key focal point ensuring consistent communication to managers, staff, patients, stakeholders and other relevant parties around the delivery of strategic projects. Person specification Education and Qualifications Essential criteria Relevent Masters, equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience Previous Experience Essential criteria Evidence of leading successful project and / or operational performance and improvement; including business case preparation, service initiation / commissioning, contract negotiation, and the development and monitoring of output and outcome measures. Extensive operational leadership experience in large complex organisations, including design, development, implementation and management of change in a multiple stakeholder environment. Skills/Knowledge/Ability Essential criteria Extensive knowledge of operations and / or project management methodologies and techniques. Highly effective people and project management skills. Work flexibly, prioritise workloads and resource them in response to changing demands and requirements. Excellent interpersonal, communication (written, oral, presentation, facilitation), networking and negotiation skills with a track record in consistently delivering performance targets and writing complex business cases, policies and change. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and delegate effectively. Ability to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
