About the Role
Join Camden Council’s Public Health Intelligence team and play a key role in transforming how data is used to improve public health outcomes. As a Senior Data Analytics Engineer, you will work at the intersection of public health, data engineering, and analytics to enable evidence-based decisions that enhance population health and reduce inequalities. You will contribute to innovative initiatives such as Raise Camden, which builds linked, longitudinal records to better understand child wellbeing, and the Estates Mission, which integrates data to improve services for those with the greatest need. Your work will directly influence how Camden supports its communities by designing scalable, secure, and reproducible data pipelines that integrate diverse datasets from clinical records to housing and education. You will align health data with corporate models and virtualisation platforms like Denodo, build dimensional models and intuitive tools for analysts and policymakers, and lead complex data projects while navigating governance challenges. Additionally, you will guide analysts in best practices for software development using R, Python, SQL, and Git, helping to foster a culture of data innovation and collaboration.
Experience
- A relevant qualification or at least 3 years’ professional experience in data analysis, data science, or data engineering.
- Strong skills in SQL, data modelling, and experience with virtualisation technologies such as Denodo or similar.
- Proficiency in R or Python and experience supporting reproducible analytical pipelines.
- Knowledge of public health, NHS data, clinical coding systems (ICD-10, SNOMED-CT), and public sector data governance.
- Proven ability to translate complex data needs into clear deliverables while managing competing stakeholder priorities.

Qualifications
