About the Role

The Senior Economic Planner role offers a dynamic and varied working day, including reviewing forecasting outputs, overseeing transport appraisal work, supporting analysts with complex modelling challenges, presenting findings to regional leadership teams, advising on economic cases for enhancement schemes, and engaging with industry partners and government stakeholders. You will balance delivery across a broad portfolio, ensuring high technical standards while meeting client requirements and deadlines. This role requires sound judgement, strong prioritisation skills, and the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations that support strategic decision-making.
You will lead a small team of analysts, managing your own portfolio of work and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including regional business functions, public sector organisations, and wider industry partners. Experience
- Strong background in transport appraisal, demand forecasting, and economic analysis
- Experience directing a large portfolio of projects and managing teams
- Proven ability to innovate and solve complex modelling issues
- Experience analysing large datasets and using complex analytical frameworks
- Excellent presentation skills, able to adjust style for differing audiences
- Experience developing and maintaining industry relationships
- Proven ability to draft clear and concise strategic documents
- Appreciation of project risk issues and their application to daily tasks

Qualifications
- Masters level numerate degree or relevant experience
