About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey. We are seeking a commercially focused Senior FP&A Manager to strengthen financial planning, performance insight and decision support across Mace Consult. Working closely with the FP&A leadership team, finance directors and business stakeholders, you will translate complex financial and operational information into clear actions, improve planning and reporting processes, and help develop scalable FP&A tools and ways of working. This hands-on role requires exceptional financial modelling and analytical thinking skills to interrogate complex data, construct robust scenarios and convert insight into clear commercial decisions. You will confidently use AI and emerging technologies to accelerate analysis, improve forecast quality, automate routine activities and develop smarter, scalable ways of working, while applying appropriate judgement and governance.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning, budgeting and forecasting: managing defined elements of the annual budget, business planning and forecasting cycles, coordinating inputs from finance and operational teams; owning and enhancing integrated financial models with clear assumptions, controls and auditability; challenging planning assumptions and quantifying risks and opportunities; ensuring submissions align with agreed principles and governance; supporting long-term planning through scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Performance analysis and commercial insight: producing clear analysis of performance against forecast, explaining variances and business drivers; partnering with finance directors and senior leaders to turn data into practical commercial actions; analysing revenue, margin, utilisation, secured income, pipeline, cost base, working capital and cash performance; owning and improving management information packs; developing concise management reporting and presentations; undertaking external benchmarking and competitor analysis.
- Financial analysis and decision support: evaluating strategic initiatives, transformation programmes and investment opportunities; assessing business cases by quantifying returns, value creation, cash flow and risks; supporting management in balancing growth, investment and cash generation; presenting financial recommendations to senior leadership; providing ad-hoc commercial analysis.
- Process improvement and finance transformation: identifying and implementing opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate financial planning, reporting and control processes; championing practical AI adoption across FP&A by developing repeatable, high-value workflows; driving best practice budgeting, forecasting and reporting methodologies; leveraging systems and data analytics to strengthen reporting and decision making; establishing and monitoring KPIs to improve financial visibility, accountability and operational performance.
Experience
Minimum five years post qualification experience in finance business partnering, FP&A, commercial finance or related roles. Proven ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment. Experience implementing zero-based budgeting, cost transformation or efficiency programmes. Preferably experience in a private equity environment. Demonstrable experience applying AI effectively and responsibly in a finance environment. Experience using Oracle and TM1.
About you
Exceptional financial modelling capability and analytical problem-solving skills. Commercial understanding of the relationship between P&L performance, cash generation and working capital. Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and confidence to challenge established thinking with evidence. Strong communication skills to present evidence-based financial recommendations confidently to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
