About the Role
Join Network Rail to provide strategic leadership on multi-million-pound fares, ticketing, and retail projects. You will shape the development and delivery of major initiatives that balance customer, financial, and commercial priorities. This role involves leading policy design, business case development, and optioneering, working closely with experts and delivery partners to develop efficient and deliverable project scopes. You will provide evidence-based analysis and advice to senior leaders, engage stakeholders across rail reform and Great British Railways, produce high-quality briefing materials and presentations, and help develop forward plans, roadmaps, and toolkits that improve delivery across multi-disciplinary teams.
Network Rail is transforming how passengers buy and use rail services, aiming to make rail easier to understand and use, with better value fares, straightforward ticket choices, and fair, consistent prices. The role supports reforms including improved ticketing confidence, enhanced retail experiences, and integration with other public transport systems. This is a permanent role or available as a 12-month secondment, with a strong focus on collaboration and cultural change across organisations.
Experience
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including drafting papers for senior executives
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain credibility at all levels across the business and industry stakeholders
- Proven ability to synthesise complex information, identify risks and opportunities
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple pressures simultaneously
- Ability to establish cross-sector relationships and act as an ambassador for cultural change
- Leadership skills to build collaborative team culture and integrate diverse perspectives
- Desirable: Experience working across policy, commercial, and customer environments
