About the Role
Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. We are seeking a full-time Senior Sustainability Manager to support new large-scale infrastructure programmes. You will join the existing Responsible Business team in the UK and deliver client-facing consultancy services including advisory, management, and coordination of climate change, sustainability, and social value activities. You will lead defined sustainability workstreams across major infrastructure programmes, supporting strategy development and delivering management plans. The role involves contributing to effective risk management of sustainability issues and providing insight and guidance into design optioneering. This position offers wider personal growth and development opportunities through support to our expanding Responsible Business team. You will also support work winning and Mace’s wider corporate ambitions to reduce environmental impact.
Key responsibilities include managing the development of client sustainability management systems, climate change, and sustainability strategies on individual projects, agreeing project outcomes and ensuring delivery by project teams. You will manage a team of Sustainability Managers and/or Assistant Sustainability Managers, apply your skills across a range of sustainability disciplines, promote innovation, work with relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes, support bid activities, client liaison, upskilling colleagues, and raise the external profile of Mace and its services. You will contribute to Mace’s drive to be a leader in climate change and sustainability.
Experience
Extensive experience in sustainability management within major infrastructure or large programme environments. Demonstrable experience leading sustainability topics or strategy development and contributing to design development. Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, planning policy, and best practice approaches. Proven ability to influence design development to achieve best-in-class sustainability performance improvements. Experience managing complex stakeholders, negotiating outcomes, and representing programmes at senior technical forums.

Qualifications
Degree-qualified with professional accreditation such as CEnv, ISEP Practitioner, or equivalent. Secondary skills or experience in GIS, DCO, and PowerBI are desirable.
