About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield. The Service Manager role is a full-time position accountable to the Deputy General Manager, responsible for the day-to-day operational management of several Paediatric services within the Children's Medicine & Neonatology Directorate. The position holder will line manage an assistant service manager and oversee the administrative team for the services, including medical secretaries, receptionists, and pathway coordinators. You will work closely with the leadership team across the three services to address all operational issues as they arise. This is a demanding yet exciting position that offers many opportunities for career progression.
Experience
Evidence of managing successful project and/or operational performance and improvement, including the development and monitoring of output and outcome measures. Operational experience in managing specific services, including design, development, implementation, and management of change in a multi-professional environment. Experience of managing complex budgets from a range of income sources.
About you
Excellent management skills, including motivating and coaching staff. Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to work flexibly and prioritize in response to changing demands. Excellent interpersonal, communication, networking, and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience. Evidence of continuing professional development. Understanding of lean methodology is desirable.
