About the Role
Camden Council is seeking an experienced Service and Repair Engineer to join our in-house team. You will carry out essential servicing, diagnostics, and repair work across our social housing portfolio, ensuring heating, hot water, and gas systems remain safe, compliant, and fully functional. This hands-on role involves working directly with residents, providing clear communication, excellent service, and guidance on the safe use of their systems. Key responsibilities include carrying out annual safety checks and servicing in line with legislation, diagnosing and repairing faults in boilers, pipework, heating controls, and renewable technologies, completing emergency and routine maintenance tasks promptly and safely, maintaining accurate records of inspections and compliance certificates, escalating gas safety risks or safeguarding concerns appropriately, and supporting Camden’s energy efficiency and sustainability goals.

Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in domestic heating servicing and maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills for heating systems.
- Good understanding of gas safety legislation and landlord compliance.
- Experience working in social housing is desirable.
- Training with boiler manufacturers or renewable technologies (e.g. air source heat pumps) is advantageous.
- Experience supporting vulnerable residents is a plus.
- Confidence using digital job reporting tools is preferred.

You combine technical excellence with a resident-first approach. You have excellent communication and record-keeping skills, the ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver high-quality results.

- CENWAT (Boilers & Water Heaters)
- CKR1 (Cookers)
- HTR1 (Gas Fires)
- CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis)
